DIY Pillow Covers

Chalk Couture makes everything easier and making pillows for your home’s decor is no exception! Our pillows come in 2 different shapes (square and rectangle) and are made out of a natural canvas making them both durability and easy to create on.  See how easy and cute it is to make a complete set!  One thing you might notice is that our covers come in a natural fabric versus a white fabric. I personally love this because pure white get’s so dirty and is so easily spotted, but that’s not why Chalk did this. Chalk Couture made their canvas’ textile all natural because this is actually easier to dye with RIT dye than the white. Did you know that?!! I did not. Something about the process to get the fibers white makes it so the dye does not soak in as well.  Pro Tip: Don’t have RIT dye, water down some of our inks and feel free to use those.  Have you ever created on our textiles? They are so much fun. I use our banner to make garden flags all the time and it’s SO simple....

3 Tips to Using Larger Transfers Chalk Couture

Chalk Couture offers 5 different sized transfers ranging from A (5”x7”) to E (18”x24”) with the smaller ones being the most common. However, we are here today to see that those larger transfers are just as easy to work with as those smaller ones. I will even share a few of my favorite tips and techniques with you to make sure that you get that perfect design, without the fear of “messing up.” Here take a look at how I took an E sized transfer and used it for the background on my tiered tray! Isn’t that such a lovely design.  Chalk Couture offers 5 different sized transfers ranging from A (5”x7”) to E (18”x24”) with the smaller ones being the most common. Hello Sunshine!! DIY Door Round

The sunshine has finally arrived here in Upstate NY so of course I had to decorate my porch, starting with the front door!  I love using our 16” door rounds to decorate my front door for the season. They come in a natural wood but paste (or paint) super easy and can even be turned around and recreated on. The fact that they are 16” can be a little scary but TRUST ME we have SO many wonderful transfers this size, you will not be disappointed. Here check out what I made.  I kept today’s project super simple by applying a bumblebee and a black velvet paste, both colors I pulled from that fun summer ribbon.  Today’s project was super fun to make because I show you a nifty little trick to get a reversed image with your transfers. Did you know that you could use your transfer upside down?!! Oh yea you can! Check it out in today’s video then grab your supplies and give it a try.  Until Next Time,  Jen  Shop todays project @  https://www.chalkcouture.com...

Exist Loudly Rainbow

After 3 or 4 tries I think I have finally perfected the layering technique. I know I have been showing this one off a lot lately but this project was a lot of fun to create and this Exist Loudly transfer is just perfect for practicing it. I hope you enjoy!  I really wanted this one to stand out so I decided to decorate our white simple shape with some rainbow colored pastes. I used Candy Apple Red, Orange Peel, Bumblebee, Meadow, Cadet, and Wisteria for my paste.  If you have never tried water coloring with paste then you are totally missing out. Just apply your favorite color to a color tray, or even the top of the jar, then spray a little bit of water in it until you achieve that water color, watery down, easy to paint consistency. Then grab your favorite surface and get to town. Once your background is dry you can go to town creating with our easy to use transfers.  Make sure to check out the video below for all the details on today’s project.  Until Next Time,...

Periodically Use Sarcasm DIY T-Shirt w. Chalk Couture

Today’s video is a throwback and if you are a member over in our little VIP community then you may remember me coming on LIVE to make it.  T-shirts are always a ton of fun to make and since our inks set into the shirt you can wash it 1000 times and it will simply turn into your trusted old vintage tee.  Let’s keep it nice and simple today and simply share the video.  I hope you enjoyed today’s project.  Until Next Time,  Jen  Shop todays project @  https://www.chalkcouture.com/SSDesignsCouture  Follow me @ SSdesignsCouture   Join us on Facebook Groups @  SSdesigns Couture Lounge

How to use Chalk Couture on Glass

Today I wanted to throw it back for a minute and show you a project that I completed last summer. This is a super fun project because it really shows you that you can create on any surface. Don’t be afraid to take that trash and turn it into treasure.   Wasn’t that such a fun project. My mom was cleaning out her house and packed me up a box of stuff which contained this beautiful sea glass container. Super cute.  Now, whenever I create on a “found” non chalk couture surface I always make sure to grab my trusty wax and wax applicator . Our wax provide you with a protective barrier between your surface and your transfer. Remember that our transfers get anywhere from 8-12 uses per industry standard so you want to make sure to protect your investment.  If you are interested in browsing our clickable summer look book make sure to check out this link right here .  Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Until Next Time,  Jen  Shop todays project @ ...

Oopsie’s - Re- Applying a Chalk Couture transfer

I hope you have seen a theme in these last couple of blog posts. When I purchased my latest pack of simple shapes  they actually came in a 4 pack so I was able to make 4 different projects with them. If you happened to miss our wall hanger using the round one make sure to head back over and take a look.  I loved them SO much that I went ahead and picked up a set of our  2 pack rectangle ones.  These ones are a little bigger but just as much fun to create with. Check out this fun sign I made using the Come in and Hang Out transfer.   This is another really fun transfer that I had used over and over again. Isn’t this perfect for the kids room, game room, or even a lounge area? Plus I even took it a step further and attached some fairy lights to the back of it (I grabbed these from Amazon) and turned it into a night light!! This would look equally as cute out on the patio on those hot summer nights.  To check out this project in action, AND to see how I ...

Saturday Morning Crafting - Weekly Roundup

Summer Loading… It’s the end of the school year!! Which means most of us are doubling and even tripling Up our schedules to fit all of those last minute field trips, birthday parties, and sports championships completed and we of course are no exception. I always loved June. School has always been important to me making June bittersweet (I mean who doesn’t LOVE summer??!) Now that I am a mom, nothing has changed (imagine that) except that now I get to enjoy doing all of those activities with my boys. In fact, this week my middle son and I were able to head out and enjoy a day at our local zoo! It was SO much fun! We saw turtles and even hedgehogs…both are fan favorites around here. What have you guys been up to lately?? Have you enjoyed any end of the school year events? Email me back and let me know. I love chatting with you guys. Now that we are all caught up, let’s move on to this week’s roundup. I have the latest tips and tutorials for you guys listed out below.

Heat Setting Cups with Chalk Couture (The Complete Process)

You know I have never ever done a complete video on how I made wine glasses and mugs. Sure I have shown you how I ink on them, making sure to share those tips about applying a design on a curved surface, but I have never actually heat set them in the over then tested the dishwasher (with heat dry!) So today, I am going to walk you through the complete ink setting process for working with glassware and mugs.   Now when I am working on glassware I want to be able to wash it and have that design not wash off. I work in the Cricut/Vinyl world for YEARS and one things about HTV is no matter how much you heat set it, it still is an added layer and has the potential to come off (maybe not right away, but definitely after a couple of washings.) The awesome thing about working with our Chalk Couture Inks is that the ink sets into the surface, not creating a layer but actually becoming one with the surface!  I know it’s amazing right?!!  Before we get to the demo I wanted to make s...

Using Multiple Chalk Couture Paste Colors

One of my favorite things about summer is all of those bold beautiful colors and today’s project hopefully shows that with a little bit of added class. Even with all those colors these pieces were SO easy to make.  Here is the quick video demoing how I made the soda shop sign. I was going for some vintage vibes but I also really wanted to make a sign with that beautiful Wisteria Paste . Is that not one of the prettiest purples you have ever seen??  I used a number of paste colors but you can feel free to use any colors you have on hand. My colors included Wisteria, Ocean Mist, Shimmer Melon, Bark, Dune, and Peony. I really wanted it to be colorful.  One tip to working with a number of colors (anything over 3) is to pre-plan your design. I always spend a few minutes to decide on which colors I want to place where. This can change but it really helps speed up the time that my paste sits in my silk screen. Since our paste is water based it tends to dry a little faster...

Happy Family DIY Picture Frame

I love our definition statements transfers from Chalk Couture. They are SO much fun to create with and are fun little affirmations and reminders that are great to feature as part of your home’s daily decor.  This project uses a 12x12” piece of cut wood and our Happy Family transfer . I then took a Chalk Couture simple shape and cut it down to the perfect picture size. I also used these wonderful simple shapes as a stand alone project in yesterday’s video. Feel free to check that out here , these come in a 4 pack.  I love the way the simple shape will hold up the photo off the board.  I then finished it off with some faux flowers from my stash and some matching Lakeshore colored ribbon (to match my paste.) I hope you enjoy!  Watch the demo on how I put this project together. It was SO simple.  If you are interested in recreating this project feel free to shop the quick shopping link found  here .  Follow me @SSdesignsCouture  Join us on Facebook Gr...

Excuse the Mess Wall Hanger - CC Simple Shapes

I love how easy and simple Chalk Couture makes creating beautiful projects and today’s project is the perfect example. Today I created this wonderful hanger from one of our simple shape surfaces.  These surfaces are the perfect 4 pack for all of those smaller projects. You can even use some of the extras (after you make this one of course) to dress up your porch sign or any other project. I kept this project super simple by “painting” the surface with some Colonial Blue paste. I then applied the transfer with out black paste and added some accessories from my stash.  I love using the Happy Home transfer. It has multiple designs, each one offering it’s own flair. You can hop on over to my YouTube channel to see some other projects with it. But in the meantime if you want to recreate this cute hanger feel free to watch the demo below.   Thanks so much for stopping by. If you are interested in creating this design please feel free to check out the project’s quick link shopp...
