Using Multiple Chalk Couture Paste Colors

One of my favorite things about summer is all of those bold beautiful colors and today’s project hopefully shows that with a little bit of added class. Even with all those colors these pieces were SO easy to make.

Here is the quick video demoing how I made the soda shop sign. I was going for some vintage vibes but I also really wanted to make a sign with that beautiful Wisteria Paste. Is that not one of the prettiest purples you have ever seen??

I used a number of paste colors but you can feel free to use any colors you have on hand. My colors included Wisteria, Ocean Mist, Shimmer Melon, Bark, Dune, and Peony. I really wanted it to be colorful.

One tip to working with a number of colors (anything over 3) is to pre-plan your design. I always spend a few minutes to decide on which colors I want to place where. This can change but it really helps speed up the time that my paste sits in my silk screen. Since our paste is water based it tends to dry a little faster than our inks.

If you would rather take your time, feel free to paste sections of the transfer and then gently peel and release only that section, then continue working in sections until your design is done.

For those that are curious, I will be showing off that offsetting technique a little later this week.

Until Next Time,

Jen
