DIY Chalk Couture Christmas Tray

Hey there! I'm excited to share with you the amazing experience I had while creating a Peppermint Gingerbread tray. Thanks to Chalk Couture surface, it was an absolute breeze to assemble and design.  First off, I wanted to get the perfect color for my tray, so I opted for a Candy Apple paste. I diluted it with some water to make it look more like paint and then applied it to the surface in multiple layers to achieve a deep red shade. Once I was happy with the hue, I let it dry and then used a light sandpaper to create a stripped pattern on top.  If you want to see the process in action, check out the quick video I made. And take a look at my finished tray, all decorated and proudly sitting on display on my kitchen island! With these trays, you can really personalize them by adding some extra decor pieces.  I hope you enjoyed reading about my little DIY project. If you want to get your hands on the products I used, you can visit my  online shop, link included.  A...

DIY Christmas Sign - Elegant Golden Nutcrackers

I don’t know about you but I am totally a sucker for some beautiful nutcrackers. Plus, check out ALL of that detail!!  I hope you enjoy today’s project. I really wanted to keep it simple and just show off the elegance of our silk screen transfer designs. I can totally see myself using this one over and over again. In fact I totally did!! This is one of the only photos I captured and it shows off that beautiful golden nutcracker knight along with some other projects I made using just the heads.  This is such a fun transfer because it comes with four different nutcrackers that you can mix, match, mingle, and even use on their own (t-shirts anyone?!!)  If you are interested in this beautiful transfer then make sure to take a look at my project demonstration below. Also stay tuned because I will absolutely be using these guys again.  If you are interested in creating with your very own nutcrackers you can feel free to browse our online inventory located at SS Designs Cou...

Snowman Shadow Box Frame Tutorial

Come check out how I put together this amazing Shadow Box using Chalk Couture products!! This has been on of my favorite projects from this past month and is perfect for taking your home’s decor well into the winter months.   Is that not the cutest little project ever?! And the best part is that I attached lights on the inside so it has a beautiful glow to it.  I had a feeling this project was going to be a big hit, so I recorded a video showing how to make one of your very own. I used the Chalk Couture shadow box, which is a must have/craft friendly high quality surface. You can check that new product out here. And of course the demonstration.  Now as mentioned this transfer is exclusive to club couture members in November of 2023 only, however if you are looking for a similar transfer that you can create with on our new shadow box frame then make sure to check out our Holly Jolly Santa located here .  Ding dong! That’s the sound of a new Chalk Transfer stenci...

Layering With Transfers

Today I wanted to show you a fun technique that works excellent with our Etched Transfer line that can be found here.  I decided to go Halloween with mine and used the Etched Skull transfer. Didn’t it come out wonderfully!? This transfer is spectacular for anyone that loves vintage Halloween and features 7 transfers that are sure to keep you crafting all season long. Here check out another piece that comes with this set.  I decided to use the scripted portion to cover my black frame Slyvie board. Then I took some tacky tape and adhered that skull. The skull was layered using Black Velvet, Orange Peel, and Lakeshore pastes. You can see how I achieved that offsetting look in the video.  Here’s another look at that finished project. I hope you enjoyed this new technique and try it out for yourself. It’s such a great finished look.

Let’s Make Some Stuffy Accent Pieces

I am so excited about today’s project because not only do we learn how to make these adorable stuffy accent pieces (perfect for tiered trays) but we also learn how easy it is to chalk on paper!! This paper technique is perfect for the upcoming holidays because you can use it to create your own wrapping paper!!! How awesome is that?!  Ok so check out this project below. It was such a fun project to make and I only used things that I wanted to repurpose. Feel free to get creative and push your boundaries a little and search for items you have laying around. That board was a serving tray that I was working on that turned into a paint tray for putting my smaller wooden pieces on to paint. It was a very scrappy piece of wood, but that kraft paper kept with the look.  The kraft paper was some left over wrapping paper from last year, yes I chalked on it. I picked it up that the dollar tree and have had it forever, but any paper would work perhaps a paper bag, card stock, or even just...
