Let’s Make Some Stuffy Accent Pieces

I am so excited about today’s project because not only do we learn how to make these adorable stuffy accent pieces (perfect for tiered trays) but we also learn how easy it is to chalk on paper!! This paper technique is perfect for the upcoming holidays because you can use it to create your own wrapping paper!!! How awesome is that?!  Ok so check out this project below. It was such a fun project to make and I only used things that I wanted to repurpose. Feel free to get creative and push your boundaries a little and search for items you have laying around. That board was a serving tray that I was working on that turned into a paint tray for putting my smaller wooden pieces on to paint. It was a very scrappy piece of wood, but that kraft paper kept with the look.  The kraft paper was some left over wrapping paper from last year, yes I chalked on it. I picked it up that the dollar tree and have had it forever, but any paper would work perhaps a paper bag, card stock, or even just...

New Technique - Shading with Chalk Couture

There has never been a better time to be a club couture member!! Our awesome club program recently received a make-over and you won’t believe how awesome these new perks are.  Ok so first things first, let’s take a second and check out this award-winning transfer perfect for August. Do you take your family to the fair? It’s one of my favorite summertime activities and this transfer has SO many adorable pieces like that ribbon or that pumpkin!!  Yes please let’s chat about that pumpkin for a minute. This subscription includes all of your normal products (that wonderful transfer, your 3 exclusive paste singles) BUT this month it also includes 2 new items!! It includes a beautiful pink full size squeegee!! Hello!! I don’t even buy the ful size squeegees for myself but here Chalk is giving them away!! AND your monthly subscription box will also start to include a wonderful, reusable, coordinating chalk-able shape. In fact if you missed this week’s video over on my social media mak...

Teacher Appreciation Mug - Multiple Colors

Are your kids still young enough to pass out Teacher Appreciation gifts?? My youngest two are, but sadly my oldest is now in middle school and doesn’t get this chance anymore. Although I am a firm believer that teacher’s should be appreciated all the time, I totally understand when they have 7 teachers it gets a little harder to celebrate each one.  Well with today’s project you could easily make 7 of them and still be WAY under budget, especially since I pick these mugs up at the local Dollar Tree and one transfer is enough for 12 cups!! Talk about awesome savings AND creating something that will actually be used!! PLUS these are dishwasher safe making them perfect to give out as gifts.  Here check out the first one I made. I had so much fun with this one that I came through and made a bunch more double sided stemless wine glasses, make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss out on those next week!  When you are watching the video below there is definitely a second where it...

Etched Sunflower…Take 15 🤗

Today’s project was SO much fun to create. One of my favorite things to do with our transfers is to play around with adding different colors and different layers and since we have been playing with ink all week I decided why not mix and match some ink colors.  I swear I have used this Etched Sunflower transfer over 15 times…easily! Are you tired of seeing it yet??? No!! Me Neither…it’s SO gorgeous! This transfer is definitely a fan favorite and has become part of our core line up, in fact you can check it out by visiting this link here. Along with the Etched Sunflower transfer I also used Bumblee, Orange Peel, and Papaya Inks. I love this combination for the sunflower and since I was only using the floral part I could keep the colors simple.   I hope you enjoyed this project. Top 3 Tips for Staying Creative

There are so many wonderful benefits to crafting from feeling accomplished to relieving stress and anxiety. Plus who doesn’t love spending that quality free time doing something fun and meaningful? I know I sure do! However, sometimes it can be hard to find those 10 minutes to create. Between the kids going to school and practice, the chores and errands, work priorities, and let’s not forget the toddler still at home…sometimes adding more time to squeeze in crafting can be overwhelming. Let’s think about it. It takes forever to prepare your project, am I right? Whether you are knitting, woodworking, or Chalking you always need time to figure out what project you want to create and whether you have the supplies to create it. More often than not I end up running to the local craft store to grab a missing item. I mean seriously, it takes more time to gather and plan then I spend actually crafting! I hope I am not the only one in this boat. Something, deep down, tells me I am not the only ...

5 Tips to Boost Creativity

It happens to us all. There comes a time when we all need a littler more help and inspiration finding the time to create. Whether its from lack of time or motivation, kind of the same thing, it can be tough but I’m here to show you 5 tricks to help get your back on track.  The first thing I like to do is to get into the right mindset. What does crafting do for you? Does it help you relax and unwind? Does it make you feel accomplished?  A lot of times simply thinking of your desired outcome will help you get into the mood. Believe me, we are all busy, but you are totally worth 5 minutes. Turn on your favorite song or show, grab your supplies, and give yourself 5 minutes of “me time.” Now that our mindset is right, some of us may still struggle with inspiration. We are in our crafty zone, we want to create, we have even set aside some special time away from the family. We are all ready to go….BUT….we still don’t know exactly where we are going.  Sometimes it’s hard to motiv...

DIY Pillow Covers

Chalk Couture makes everything easier and making pillows for your home’s decor is no exception! Our pillows come in 2 different shapes (square and rectangle) and are made out of a natural canvas making them both durability and easy to create on.  See how easy and cute it is to make a complete set!  One thing you might notice is that our covers come in a natural fabric versus a white fabric. I personally love this because pure white get’s so dirty and is so easily spotted, but that’s not why Chalk did this. Chalk Couture made their canvas’ textile all natural because this is actually easier to dye with RIT dye than the white. Did you know that?!! I did not. Something about the process to get the fibers white makes it so the dye does not soak in as well.  Pro Tip: Don’t have RIT dye, water down some of our inks and feel free to use those.  Have you ever created on our textiles? They are so much fun. I use our banner to make garden flags all the time and it’s SO simple....
